What is the Big Get Together?

It’s an opportunity to Get Together with your friends or family and have some fun – and one of the easiest ways to raise money for local hospice care. KEMP Hospice has joined up with other hospices across the South East to invite you to be part of The Big Get Together in October; all you have to do is ask your guests to make a donation that will go straight towards providing hospice care in your local community. You could invite the family around for a barbeque; hold a cocktails and canapés evening; watch films and eat pizza in your PJs; dance like divas or simply raise the roof with a good old-fashioned gossip; hold a Halloween themed get together in October; a bonfire party in November; a Christmas themed soiree in December or a New Year Get Together in January! You can be as sophisticated or silly as you like!


Why should I hold my own Big Get Together?

Because all money raised at your Big Get Together goes straight to KEMP Hospice. But the best part is you decide what sort of hospice-tality you offer, it couldn’t be easier! It could be the perfect way to celebrate a special person, on a special date, in a way that is fitting to celebrate their life whilst enjoying the company of your friends and family.

When should I hold my Big Get Together?

Well, that’s up to you too! You can join thousands of other people and hold your gathering in October, during Hospice Care Week (9-15 October), or if your Get Together will be to remember a loved one, you can choose a date that is more memorable to you.

About KEMP Hospice

KEMP Hospice supports patients, families and carers dealing with life-limiting illness and bereavement.  Through a wide range of free services we support around 1,000 local people each year, ensuring they are treated with respect and dignity, and given choices about the care they receive.

Patients’ medical, emotional and spiritual needs are cared for through our Day Hospice, in our specialist clinics, and via our Hospice at Home team.  Our Family Support Team provide bereavement support through 1 to 1 counselling and via support groups, helping both children and adults to rebuild their lives.

All of our care is given free of charge and so the kindness and generosity of the local community is absolutely vital in ensuring our services can continue to be there for those who need them, at what is probably their time of greatest need.

Less than a third of the £1,057,324 a year it costs to run KEMP Hospice comes from the NHS which means we depend more than ever on the 70% we receive from you, our local supporters.

How Your Support Helps

KEMP relies on community support to deliver its range of services.  Every penny raised in the Wyre Forest stays in the Wyre Forest, making a difference to the lives of local people.

Your Big Get Together is really important to us and could help our patients in many ways:

  • £7.50 could pay for a hairdressing session
  • £40.00 could pay for an adult therapy session
  • £70.00 could pay for a child bereavement counselling session
  • £125.00 could pay for a child to attend our Bereavement Camp
  • £250 could pay for one day of hospice care
  • £265 could pay for one hospice@home night
  • £890 could support one patient and their family
